Would you like to use the Internet to petition the Council? Then why not create or sign an e-petition.

An e-petition is a quick and easy way to bring issues to the attention of our councillors and influence local decision-making. It allows you to have your petition live on the Internet, rather than just on paper. This way, your petition can be made available to a potentially much wider audience, giving you the opportunity to gather more names in support.

Creating an e-Petition

Anybody who lives, works or studies in the London Borough of Wandsworth, (and others who have a connection with a relevant Council service, eg. family of someone in the care of Wandsworth Council), will be able to raise an e-petition on an issue which concerns them. You should be at least 18 years of age, although the Council may waive this where younger people have a legitimate interest in the matter, e.g. it’s about a school building project or a youth club.

To submit an e-petition, you must first register. This is a simple process, you will be asked to provide your name, address and a valid e-mail address. You will also need to decide how long you would like your petition to be open for online “signatures” (up to a maximum of three months). When creating and submitting an e-petition, it may take up to five working days before being published online. This is in order to check that the content of your petition is suitable and/it doesn’t replicate an existing e-petition, before being made available online for others to sign and support. If it is felt that we cannot publish your petition, we will contact you within this time to explain. You will be able to change and resubmit your petition if you wish.

Supporting an e-Petition

To support an existing e-petition click on the one that you are interested in. You will then be prompted to login or register. You can then read more about the e-petition and decide whether you want to support it. Some e-petitions may give you the option to say you disagree.

Once the deadline for signing e-petitions has passed, details of all signatories will be passed onto the person who created the petition.
