Living in a residential home
Residential care is another option for some young people where they are unable or might not want to live with a foster carer and they have no family members or friends who can offer an appropriate place to stay.
Each residential unit has it own way of operating and offers a different style of care. Each unit has a booklet detailing what it is like to live there, what the expectations of the young person are, and the staff and social workers who work there.
When you live in a residential, you will have a say, along with the others living there about how it looks, how it operates etc. You will have a say about your bedroom etc and you can get involved in decisions about activities and food etc.
In Wandsworth, there are two residential care homes called Bridge House and Wilna Road. |
