Independent Reviewing Officers

  • An Independent Reviewing Officer is the person with responsibility for chairing and being in charge of Reviews.
  • An Independent Reviewing Officer's job is making sure that a young person's views are heard.
  • An Independent Reviewing Officer must also make sure that the Care Plan is in the best interest of a child or young person.
  • An Independent Reviewing Officer will at the end of a Review Meeting make a number of decisions, which are aimed at supporting a young person and their Care Plan.

The Independent Reviewing Officers work from an office in Welbeck House, which is next to South Thames College on Wandsworth High Street.

Young people can contact the Independent Reviewing Officer who has responsibility for chairing their Review Meeting if they have any concerns about their Care Plan or decisions taken at a Review by calling 020 88716487. All of the Independent Reviewing Officers have been social workers and have many years experience of working with looked after children and young people. Check us out in under the spotlight.
